]]>Halloween is such a fun time for kids of all ages. What is more fun than getting to put on a costume and collect bags of candy? Fortunately, Halloween festivities don鈥檛 have to be limited to one day 鈥 you can draw out the holiday and make it fun for the entire month.
There are so many cute and creative ways to celebrate Halloween season. These five easy crafts will help your kids develop their and will get them in the Halloween spirit leading up to the holiday.
Not only is it fun because your kids get to paint their own feet, but you can also keep the finished product to use as Halloween decorations for years to come. To start, lay down a tarp in the play area. Using finger paints, color the toes and pad yellow, the arch of the foot orange, and the heel white. Next, have your kids stamp their foot on a piece of construction paper and let it dry on an art easel. Place the finished product on the fridge or in windows to show it off!
Summer firefly season might be over, but that doesn鈥檛 mean your toddler can鈥檛 still enjoy things that light up. For this creative craft, all you need is one mason jar for each child, about two to three glow sticks for each jar, black paper, and glue.
The first step is to cut the black paper into funny noses, eyes, and mouths of different shapes. Let each child choose a face and glue it onto the outside of the mason jar. Cut open two to three glow sticks, one at a time, and carefully squeeze the contents of it into the jar (this part is for grown ups to complete!). Once the liquid glow stick is inside, close the lid, secure with glue or duct tape, and give it to your kids to shake up. What you end with is a pumpkin jar that looks like it is lit up with a candle, without fire.
Not only is clay fun to play with and shape, but it can also smell just like fall and Halloween treats. All you need is one can of pumpkin puree, two tablespoons of pumpkin pie spice, and two to three cups of cornstarch. Have your child combine the pumpkin and spice in a bowl, then add in the cornstarch for a for them to shape and knead. Not just a great sensory toy for , it also smells good! Have them play with the clay on their craft table to keep the mess contained.
Generally, kids can only observe pumpkin decorating 鈥 creating a traditional jack 鈥榦 lantern and handling a sharp knife isn鈥檛 a kid-friendly activity. However, your young kids can decorate their pumpkin knife-free 鈥 let them use paint, stickers, and pins to decorate their pumpkin. Lay out the craft materials and let them go at it with all the imagination they can dream up. Use a disposable tablecloth so clean up will be quick and easy.
Fun to make and to eat, mummy hot dog rolls are the perfect Halloween treat. Cut prepackaged crescent rolls lengthwise into strips, then let your toddler wrap it around the hot dogs. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and bake them in the oven for about 15 minutes. Once the mummies have cooled, use cooking spray to gel candy eyeballs the 鈥渇ace鈥 of the hot dog. Excellent fresh out of the oven or at room temperature, they are as much fun to make as they are to eat.

]]>Kids understandably love Halloween 鈥 free candy and fun outfits are most kids鈥 dream! But, for toddlers, the holiday can be a little scary. Although your little ones want candy, they may not love getting dressed up, especially if it involves a whole lot of 鈥渟tuff鈥 on their face like makeup or an uncomfortable mask. It may be hard to find a comfortable, inexpensive costume that your toddler will love and want to wear for the whole night of festivities.
The good news is that you just need a little imagination, some creativity, and a few crafting supplies to create a fun Halloween costume for your toddler. Here are some creative Halloween costume ideas for toddlers to help get them on board and excited about the spooky celebration!
Sometimes kids get more excited when they can create costumes with Mom, Dad, and siblings. means you can spend time together planning and creating costumes as a group. Consider being your child鈥檚 favorite comic book characters, the British Royal Family, or characters from your children鈥檚 favorite television shows. When a child sees you get into character and enjoy it, they will want to join you and participate in everything Halloween has to offer.
As any parent knows, your kid鈥檚 excitement for getting dressed up only lasts so long. Protect against inevitable whining by choosing a costume that can fit their everyday clothes underneath. Try making them a mummy by wrapping their onesie with first aid wrap bandages, or dress them in a tutu to transform into a ballerina. When your kids decide they鈥檙e done with the costume, unwrap the bandages or remove the tutu, and you鈥檙e ready to go. There is nothing worse than listening to crying and whining about an uncomfortable costume all the way home.
If toddlers are one thing, they are picky. Sure, it might be super cute if they go along with the family theme, but if they want to be a ninja, so be it! If your child is having trouble selecting a costume, suggest simple ideas from their favorite books or TV shows. Remember, Halloween is about kids and having fun, so let them be what they want, and everyone will be happy.
If you want to save some money this Halloween, then make a costume for your kids. It is easy to recreate your child鈥檚 favorite character, toy, or food with things you have around the house. are always more comfortable than the store bought ones. Your child could transform into the Tooth Fairy, a monster, or a train (with some help from the im电竞app Choo Choo Wagon). Let your child be a part of the creation process so they can wear their costume with pride and take accomplishment in what they made themselves.
Halloween is one of the most exciting times for a young child, but, as parents with toddlers know, things don鈥檛 always go as planned. To ensure your little one stays happy on Halloween, make sure to involve them, bring some clothes for when they want to call it quits, and take the less expensive route by making a costume at home. Don鈥檛 forget to bring along a wagon so your kids can cruise around the neighborhood in style!

These 3 children have a special place in the hearts of the girls in the troop. After hearing about this children, im电竞app wanted to help!

]]>This year, im电竞app participated in our local Trunk or Treat in Streetsboro, Ohio. The Streetsboro Parks and Rec Department put on a nice event and even awarded volunteers for the best trunks that fit into the themes of best cartoon, best movie representation, and most scary.
Despite the weather not cooperating with us, we still had almost 500 kids that braved the rain and cold for some candy! A great fun was had by all and we were very impressed with the wide range and creativity of the costumes. Living in Ohio often poses challenges when it comes to Halloween costumes. Due to the unpredictable weather in Ohio, parents typically search for a costume that can be easily layered at a moment鈥檚 notice.

How do you keep your kids safe during Trick or Treat?
What is your child dressing up as? Or what was your favorite costume from when you were a kid?
Halloween is such an exciting time for kids. They get to dress as their favorite character, participate in school parties and run from house to house to get tasty treats! For some children, however, the tradition of trick or treat can be potentially life threatening.
Did you know that an estimated 15 million Americans have food allergies? This number includes children, affecting 1 in every 13 kids. While allergies range in severity, it鈥檚 important to show the kids that are affected that we care about their health and well-being.
By placing a teal pumpkin at your front door, you are making everyone aware that you have the option of non-food treats available. If you aren鈥檛 able to paint a pumpkin to put on display, you can visit the page for a sign to print and hang on your door.
Choosing a food item that is completely safe can be tricky due to so many treats being packaged in facilities that contain allergens. Instead of risking cross contamination, it is best to have non-food treats available to help put parents at ease while making the kids afflicted with allergies feel included in a fun night of trick or treating.
Here are some great non-food items that would be great to hand out:
In addition to these items, you can still have a separate bowl of candy for kids without allergies to choose from. Having both options is sure to please all of the kids that come to your door!
By participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project, you are showing kids that you care about their safety this Halloween! What will you be handing out to the ghouls and goblins in your neighborhood?

Ah, there is a gigantic spider hanging around the im电竞app HQ!
This spider was created using the im电竞app Ladybug Sandbox, which was discontinued in 2010. Krylon Fusion paint was used to make the sandbox black. Holes were drilled into both sides of the sandbox to place the spider鈥檚 legs into the body. The legs are made out of PVC pipes wrapped in Styrofoam. In addition to wrapping the PVC pipes in Styrofoam, black duck tape was used to keep the pipes and Styrofoam together. Talk about a spooky decoration!

]]>When my grandson was born I spent a week at my daughter鈥檚 to help with the new baby. Well, actually I took care of all the house chores while my daughter and son-in-law took care of all the baby鈥檚 needs but I did get a lot of one on one time with my new grandson. My grandson now calls me Nonna which is Italian for Grandma.
Because they live about 2 陆 hours away, I don鈥檛 get to see my grandson on a daily basis but we manage to see each other about once a month, sometimes they come up to stay with us but most times I travel to Columbus for a weekend stay. I don鈥檛 mind the 2+ hour drive down but the drive back always seems longer and not as exciting.
Being a grandparent means you get to spoil and break some (or most) of the rules. For example: My grandson loves chocolate chip cookies especially home made. My daughter and son in law have a two cookie rule. When I babysit he usually manages to get three cookies (sometimes four) especially when he looks at me with those big baby blue eyes and says 鈥淥ne more, Nonna? one more?鈥 Bedtime is always at least an hour later than normal. After all you can鈥檛 send the little guy to bed when he鈥檚 having so much fun.
While visiting this past weekend, we made a trip to the park on Saturday and spent Sunday at the Columbus Zoo for Boo at the Zoo. My grandson went as a fireman, a very handsome fireman. For some reason I was up at 6:44AM on Sunday! I was probably excited about going to the zoo, so I decided to sneak down stairs and clean up the kitchen from the night before and start the coffee, when I heard a small voice upstairs say 鈥淚s that my Nonna?鈥 my heart melted.
I ran across a couple quotes that explain it all:
鈥淭he idea that no one is perfect is a view most commonly held by people with NO grandchildren.鈥
鈥Grandchildren are God鈥檚 way of compensating us for growing old鈥
To all you grandparents out there, what do you think the most rewarding part of being a grandparent is?
Sara is a mother of four. She has two daughters 鈥 Jamie age 35 and Taylor age 16 鈥 and two sons 鈥 Justin age 20 and Christopher age 14. She is also a grandmother of one 鈥 Andrew age 3. I am the first to admit that Martha Stewart I am not. Making large dinners is not my thing. Actually, making any dinner is not really my thing. My husband cooks for himself and I cook for myself (that is what happens when one of us is carnivore and the other a veg head). My husband does his laundry and I do mine. We split meals for our little one and also split laundry duty for daily wardrobe changes. However, one domestic task I have always enjoyed is decorating for the holidays.
I think the love of decorating the house was passed on by my Mom (who also enjoys cooking, cleaning and laundry so I鈥檓 not quite sure why the decorating bug stuck with me). She was the queen of window stickies and we would decorate our sliding glass and front door with new designs every month. She also had a small decorative tree that she kept out year round. We would decorate it for all of the major holidays including Valentine鈥檚 Day, St. Patty鈥檚 Day, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. It was so much fun for us growing up, but I now realize how much work that must have been!
I don鈥檛 have stickies for every month nor do I have a year round tree that stays up, but boy do I have a lot of Halloween decorations. Many of my decorations, I inherited from my Grandma when she passed a few years ago. She loved Halloween. In fact, her and my Grandfather married on Halloween. I鈥檝e absorbed the love of the holiday from her and that day also marks my hubby鈥檚 birthday so we normally go all out. Three foot tall witches and scarecrows, dancing skeletons, pumpkin string lights, blinged out Jack-O-Lanterns, and cauldrons typically fill our house from October 1st through November 1st. However, this year, I am thinking about not decorating for the first time since I鈥檝e been married.
My favorite little boy is now 14 months old and minutes away from walking. The thought of giving him so many extra opportunities and objects to get into (and for us to clean up) sounds about as appealing to me as making Thanksgiving dinner. I also don鈥檛 know if all of these props, which are life sized to him, will scare the daylights out of him. Plus, are they choking hazards? I hadn鈥檛 even thought about choking hazards!
I know there is a school of thought out there that as parents, you should keep doing what you always have done, tell your little ones no, and ensure that they will listen to you. I鈥檓 just not sure if I subscribe to that school of thought. I think my belief is more along the lines of avoiding melt downs and toddler tantrum traps if at all possible. Just like I know that bringing my little dude on an afternoon shopping trip at nap time is not going to go well, I think it might be a smart idea to sit out on the decorating fun this year.
Before becoming a Mom, these were not the things I pondered. I knew that the most important part of being a parent is to raise a happy, healthy and independent adult, but that is big picture. The devil is surely in the details and I never realized that the option of decorating the house vs. not decorating is a big decision with the possibility of equally big consequences.
So now I have to know (so I can against you J) 鈥 did you/do you change the way you decorate for the holidays to accommodate your one year old?
